Newton Main Street Social Media Guidelines

We aim to inform, educate, and engage all who have an interest in our organization, the services we provide, and our commitment to Newton and its residents.

Content Moderation: We reserve the right to remove any content deemed to be in the best interest of our followers, employees, organization, and community without prior notice.

Engagement Guidelines: We encourage comments, questions, and concerns, but please note that our social media pages are moderated. By participating in our communities, you agree to the following guidelines:

  • Do not post content that breaks the law, encourages illegal activity, or violates copyright laws.

  • Avoid using abusive or inappropriate language.

  • Refrain from posting harassing, threatening, offensive, or obscene photos or videos.

  • Do not divulge personal or confidential matters involving Newton Main Street staff.

  • Do not identify any individual in defamatory, abusive, or negative terms.

  • Avoid spam, solicitations, or the promotion of products or services.

We reserve the right to block posts and accounts that violate this policy.

Community Guidelines: To ensure a positive experience for all, we have established the following ground rules:

  • Be respectful: Refrain from using obscenities, profanity, or making illegal, offensive, abusive, defamatory, or harmful comments. Respect both Newton Main Street and the partners we serve.

  • Stay on topic: Avoid repeated message blasts and off-topic comments, as they disrupt the community's strength and value. Spam-like posts will be deleted, and users may be blocked.

  • Keep it constructive: Provide helpful feedback on how we can improve. We appreciate constructive, thoughtful posts and comments.

  • Support our District: Promote positivity in our community and refrain from posting negative comments about our partners. Address issues or questions directly with them.

Monitoring and Third-Party Sites:

  • We monitor our social media channels daily, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST, Monday to Friday (excluding holidays). We reserve the right to remove posts that violate our guidelines or terms and conditions.

  • Links to non-local sites are provided for informational purposes. We do not endorse their content and make no warranties related to accuracy or freedom from infringement.

Thank you for adhering to our social media community guidelines. If you have a comment or wish to report inappropriate content, please email us at newtonmainstreet@gmail.com. Additionally, many social media platforms offer options to report abusive or inappropriate content. For example, on Facebook, a “Report” link is available in posts that will direct users to a form to specify the type of abuse and make a detailed report.
